Our guides are written to be useful to a local business owner and accurate enough to quote. This page explains how they are made.

Who writes our guides

Guides are published by Local Magnet and overseen by our founder, Michael Fielding. He decides what gets published and is responsible for its accuracy.

How a guide is made

  1. Research the question. We look at what currently ranks for the topic, what people ask about it, and what existing pages leave out.
  2. Gather sources. Facts, figures and quotes come from named sources: platform documentation (Google, OpenAI, Microsoft), official bodies, published studies and recognised industry research.
  3. Draft. Drafting is AI-assisted. Our AI use statement explains how.
  4. Edit and check. Every draft is edited for accuracy and plain English. Statistics are checked against their source, and claims that cannot be sourced are removed.
  5. Review and publish. Nothing is published until it has been reviewed and approved by a person.

Our standards

  • No invented statistics. Every figure has a named source. If we cannot find one, the figure does not appear.
  • No invented examples. We do not write fake client stories or made-up quotes. Our only published client result is the anonymised case study, and we describe it as it is.
  • Rival agencies are not named. Where we discuss what agencies charge or offer, providers are anonymised.
  • Prices in pounds. We quote UK prices only, and only where we can source them.
  • No guarantees. We do not tell readers a tactic will produce a ranking or an AI mention.

Keeping guides current

Search changes quickly, and AI search changes faster. We review guides when platforms change their documentation or behaviour, and we correct errors as soon as we find them. Our corrections policy explains how to report one.

Independence

We do not accept payment for mentions, links or reviews in our guides. Tools and platforms are mentioned because they are useful to the reader, not because anyone paid for it.
